LENA Perigee Movies

Oxygen Movie

Hydrogen Movie

The above movies cover a four hour interval centered on time of perigee. Individual frames are at two minute intervals but require only 40 seconds of collection time since the 120 degree image is accumulated in a third of a spin. The IMAGE orbit segment for this time interval is shown here. It was assumed that both solar and magnetic activity were high at this time (F10.7 = 200 and Kp = 7), ion energization occured at 1000 km altitude and that H+ ions were less energized ( Tperp = 12 eV) than the oxygen ions (Tperp = 24 eV).
