We have arranged to publish a special issue in the Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics We are very excited about the JASTP collaboration and feel that the choice of a special issue offers several advantages over the original monograph publication route.
Here is updated information about the special issue.
Nature and Scope of the Special Issue: Please follow the link at left to be sure your submission fits within the scope of the special issue.
Participants: The link at left points to a list of all current participants and working titles for the paper. Please review the information for accuracy and let us know of any changes.
Deadlines: Deadline for submission of manuscripts is August 1, 1999.
Review: JASTP has a rigorous peer-review policy using at least two anonymous peers to ensure all submissions are at a scientific level suitable for publication. The selection of reviewers will be made by the journal editor.
Submissions: Submit manuscripts electronically to the journal editor (Tim Killeen) at http://veo.elsevier.nl/jastp.1/ . This is the only method of submission and must be followed even if you have previously submitted a paper. Please send a message to Paul Craven or Glynn Germany when you submit your paper to help us track submissions. Also notify us if you encounter any problems with the submission process.
Manuscript: JASTP does not levy page charges nor are there page limits on papers. However, the journal editoral policy favors concise publications and lengthy papers may be shortened as part of the review process.
Color charges: There are no charges for the use of color figures but there is a color separation charge. Note that this is different from JGR/GRL policy that levies both a color page charge and a color separation charge. Commercial software such as Adobe Photoshop can be used to create color separations, in which case there would be no charge for the use of color figures.
Animations: JASTP provides electronic publishing in which animations, movies, ancillary data sets, etc. are referenced in the paper as links to web sites maintained by the publisher. Since our topic involves imaging, we have been encouraged to make use of this capability.
