Publication by SERVIR Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) Team Members on Integrating Gender into Data Services

A research article entitled “Integrating Gender Into Data Services: A Flexible, Multidisciplinary and Reflexive Approach” was recently published in Frontiers in Climate by Lalu Maya Kadel, Vishwas Sudhir Chitale, and Kamala Gurung of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), host organization for SERVIR HKH in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The article describes a five-step approach to integrate gender and social inclusion in data services, drawing in part on Theory of Change concepts that were implemented in SERVIR HKH’s Climate Resilient Forest Management System (CRFMS) in Nepal service and that are also described in SERVIR’s Service Planning Toolkit. Gurung is the Gender and Natural Resource Management Specialist for SERVIR HKH, Kadel is the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, and Chitale is the Remote Sensing Specialist for Ecosystems.
