Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) Discovery Paper and Sessions

On 6/7/23, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society (MNRAS) published “Uncovering the geometry of the hot X-ray corona in the Seyfert galaxy NGC 4151 with IXPE” by Vittoria E. Gianolli et al. This is the 22nd discovery paper published by the IXPE Science Team.

On 6/7/23, the American Astronomical Society (AAS) hosted a splinter session on IXPE at its Summer meeting in Albuquerque. Kavitha Arur (Lead Scientist, IXPE General Observer Facility, GSFC) organized the workshop, which included presentations by Astrophysics Branch scientists Steven Ehlert, Doug Swartz, and Allyn Tennant.

The AAS regular sessions included 4 presentations on IXPE Science, including “The origin of blazar X-rays as inferred by the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer” by Steven Ehlert (IXPE Project Scientist, ST12).

On 6/6/23, Philip Kaaret (ST12) gave a seminar on IXPE to the X-ray Astrophysics Laboratory at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, “The Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) Status and Prospects.”
