Demonstration of KNaCK LiDAR System to National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) Tour

Michael Zanetti (ST13) and Christopher Whetsel (ES52) presented a live demonstration of the Kinematic Navigation and Cartography Knapsack (KNaCK) LiDAR system and rover systems to the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) committee visiting NASA MSFC on 7/27/23. The demo was held in Bldg 7619 near the V20 vacuum chamber and delivered to ~20 high-level visitors. The purpose of the NASEM visit was for them to receive a comprehensive picture of Marshall’s infrastructure, workforce, and technology as well as our capabilities. The NASEM committee will be authoring a report by the end of this calendar year for both Congress and NASA based on the information they’ve received through center visits and HQ meetings. The KNaCK presentation was well-received and the committee members had a number of interesting questions and comments.
