Amy Winebarger (ST13) was invited to present a talk entitled Rocket to the Sun and sit on a Principal Investigators panel at the first Principal Investigators Development Workshop on 8/10/23 at Wallops Flight Facility. The talk was attended by undergraduate and graduate students and faculty who have participated in the RockSat-C and RockSat-X programs. These programs give students hands on experience in building rocket borne experiments. College teams are selected for the year-long program and have to design, develop, build, test, and integrate their experiments into a rocket payload. The rockets are then launched from Wallops Flight Facility. This year was the first time that a development workshop was coordinated with a launch opportunity to encourage students to stay in the STEM and rocket programs. The workshop supported both in person and virtual attendance and the total number of attendees was roughly 60 students and faculty.
