Latest Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) Discovery Papers and News

On 8/25/23, the Astrophysical Journal published online “IXPE and XMM-Newton Observations of the Soft Gamma Repeater SGR 1806-20” by Roberto Turolla al. On 9/1/23, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society published online “The X-ray polarization of the Seyfert 1 galaxy IC 4329A” by A. Ingram et al. On 9/1/23, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society published online “The geometry of the hot corona in MCG-05-23-16 constrained by X-ray polarimetry” by D. Tagliacozzo et al. On 9/4/23, Astronomy & Astrophysics published online “Complex variations in X-ray polarization in the X-ray pulsar LS V +44 17/RX J0440.9+4431” by Victor Doroshenko et al.  These are the 32nd, 33rd, 34th, and 35th Discovery papers published by the IXPE Science Team

On 9/6/23, the IXPE General Observer (GO) Facility held a virtual workshop for potential GO proposers (https://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/ixpe/analysis/workshop/proposer2023.html). Phil Kaaret, Allyn Tennant, and Doug Swartz (ST12)presented on behalf of the IXPE Team at MSFC. Approximately 100 persons attended the online workshop.

9/18/23 was the deadline for submission of (non-mandatory) Notices of Intent (NOIs) to submit an IXPE Cycle-1 General Observer (GO) proposal. Approximately 100 NOIs were received. The deadline for submission of Cycle-1 GO Science proposals is October 18.
